 About AAU-ODL

The Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education is a new initiative by Assam Agricultural University (AAU-ODL). It has been started working with the objectives to provide holistic agricultural knowledge and skill amongst different categories of learners including farmers, entrepreneurs, rural women as well as unemployed youths, employees of Government/private sectors, field service proiders, and school dropouts etc. The overall aim is 'reaching the unreached'.

Our Courses

 Diploma Courses

  • The Diploma courses will be consisting of two semesters.
  • The registered candidates will have to undergo in-campus training for at least 10 days per semester as and when offered.
  • The intake capacity of each course will be decided by the University based on resources available and strength of the concerned centre/departments offering the course.
  • Self-learning PowerPoint presentations and video lectures/demonstrations prepared by the course teachers on selected topics related to the course curriculum will also be made available to the participants.
  • The registered participants will also have access to the libraries/study centres (to be established) in selected campuses of AAU during the period of the ongoing course.

 Certificate Courses

  • Certificate courses will usually be of 3-6 months duration.
  • For each course, the registered participants will have to undergo in-campus training for at least 10 days as and when offered.
  • The intake capacity of each course will be decided by the University based on resources available and strength of the concerned centre/departments offering the course.
  • Candidates having previous experience of farming will be given preference for admission.
  • Self-learning PowerPoint presentations and video lectures/demonstrations prepared by the course teachers on selected topics related to the course curriculum will also be made available to the participants.
  • The registered participants will also have access to the study centres (to be established) of selected campuses of AAU during the period of the ongoing course.

 Short Term Training Courses

  • The short-term training courses will usually be of 10-30 days duration.
  • For each course, the registered participants will have to undergo in-campus training for at least for 3-7 days.
  • The intake capacity of each course will be decided by the University based on resources available and strength of the concerned centre/departments offering the course.
  • Candidates having previous experience of farming will be given preference for admission.
  • Video lectures/demonstrations prepared by the course teachers on selected topics related to the course curriculum will be made available to the participants.
